Professional Summary:
Stephen Zheng is a highly experienced litigator whose practice focuses on complex commercial and international litigation. From 1999 until 2003, Mr. Zheng was a Jinjiang District Court judge who presided over thousands of commercial cases, including those concerning the interests of foreign corporations in China. Many of then, judge Zheng's opinions were distinguished to have been selected for publication in the Chinese Judiciary's Official Court Publication Casebook--a prestigious honor since not all legal opinions are published in China.
In 2003, Mr. Zheng resigned from the bench and moved to Australia for more than a year in order to expand his exposure to and familiarity with international law by completing a postgraduate course at University of New South Wales. Upon his return to China, Mr. Zheng joined the firm of Titan & Partners where, today, he continues to advise many multi-national clients regarding corporate matters in China including, but not limited to litigation, complex commercial disputes, cross-border commercial actions, bank loan recovery, and defense of alleged brokerage and securities infractions.
Having lived for a considerable amount of time abroad in Australia, a background which is uncommon with regard to most Chinese attorneys, Mr. Zheng speaks excellent English along with his obviously fluent Mandarin Chinese and the Fujian provincial dialect.
